Colour consistency across reprints and across years

The risk in offshore print buying is not the first order. It is the fourth, three years later, when the shade has moved and two generations of packaging sit on the same shelf. Fotoset controls this by printing brand colours as mixed spot inks against a reference where drift is unacceptable, by proofing on the production substrate rather than on generic proofing paper, and by matching every repeat run at the press against the retained printed sample from the previous run. Ink densities are recorded so the next run has a target.

Barcode print quality and verification grade

Printed symbols are scanned and verified against your supplied data before despatch. Bar width compensation is set for the substrate and process, quiet zones are protected in the die line so a punch cannot cut into them, and high-gloss varnish is held clear of the symbol field. Where your packaging specification states a minimum verification grade, the achieved grade is reported with the delivery. Where you supply a GTIN list, the printed sequence is checked item by item against it.

Compliance mark reproduction

EN 388 and other PPE pictograms, CE marking, BIS marks, size marking, care symbols and recycling marks are printed from vector data at the proportions the standard or your artwork defines. Performance digits inside a pictogram are checked for legibility at the final printed size. Marks are never rescaled from a low-resolution image or redrawn locally.

Multi-language instruction sheets and user information leaflets

Multi-language leaflets are set in-house in European and Indian scripts, with correct diacritics, correct hyphenation per language and consistent pagination across languages, then folded to the size your carton or header card requires. Text is set from the files you supply; translation is not altered here. Where a leaflet has to fit a fixed cavity, the folded size and paper weight are engineered to it rather than approximated.

Artwork

Press-ready PDF is preferred; native Illustrator, EPS, InDesign packages and high-resolution image files are equally acceptable. Every file goes through a pre-press check for bleed, trim, overprint, minimum line weight, reversed text size, barcode dimensions and mark resolution, and a written query list is issued before plates are made.

Nominating Fotoset in your packaging instruction

Brands commonly specify Fotoset directly in the packaging instruction issued to their Indian supplier. Printed matter is then produced to your approved artwork and delivered to the nominated manufacturer for packing, so the tag and leaflet specification stays under your control while the commercial relationship for the product remains with your supplier. Approved samples and proofs are held here and can be sent to you on request at any point.
