Barcode & Shipping Stickers for Tea & Agro
Barcode & Shipping Stickers is one of the printed items an exporter in tea and agro has to get right before a consignment can be packed. Late, mis-cut or off-colour print stops a packing line. Fotoset keeps every operation in-house in Kolkata for that reason.
What the buyer is actually specifying
Because photography, design and artwork, colour scanning, offset printing, lamination and silkscreen printing are all carried out in-house, a change to the barcode and shipping stickers specification does not have to be negotiated across three suppliers. One purchase order covers the finished item, delivered ready for the tea and agro packing line.
In tea and agro, barcode and shipping stickers is used for work of this kind:
- Retail unit barcodes applied to polybags, header cards and boxes
- Inner and outer carton identification for export shipments
- Size and article stickers applied at the packing table
- Shelf-ready and warehouse location labels
In this sector the printed set around the product usually includes the following, and Fotoset can supply all of it on one order rather than leaving the buyer to co-ordinate three suppliers:
- Tea sample tags with ruled fields for lot number, grade, number of bags, total weight and date of packing
- Packet labels and laminated wrappers for retail tea packs
- Cartons and inner cartons for packet and bag ranges
- Chest, sack and shipping marks for auction and export lots
Specification we start from
Size and format range: From 20 x 10 mm article stickers to 210 x 148 mm carton labels, supplied in sheets or on rolls with a stated core and winding direction. Sample tags are commonly printed two-colour or four-colour on 250 to 300 GSM board at 55 x 65 mm, punched for string.
Printing is by sheet-fed offset for process and spot colours, with silkscreen used where an opaque white, a metallic or a fluorescent is specified. Both processes are in the same building, so a combination job runs without moving the sheet.
- Offset and silkscreen printing for the printed field
- High-resolution barcode imaging with bar width reduction set for the chosen substrate
- Verification against the print quality grade agreed with the buyer
Materials that hold up in this application
- White semi-gloss self-adhesive paper with permanent acrylic adhesive
- Matt paper for thermal transfer overprint at the packer's end
- White and clear polyester and polypropylene for damp or oily handling
- Removable adhesive stock where the label must lift cleanly from a finished product
Lamination, die-cutting and screen work are in-house, so a specification that combines an offset base with a silkscreen opaque or metallic pass can be run without moving the job to another plant.
- Kiss-cut on sheets or rolls, sprocketed or plain
- Gloss or matt varnish over the printed area, barcode field left free of high-gloss varnish
- Sequential numbering and variable data
- Roll winding to a specified core size and unwind direction
Labelling obligations
Fotoset prints the marks and declarations supplied by the customer and does not alter them. Artwork is checked before plate-making and any mark that will not reproduce cleanly is queried in writing. For tea and agro, the content that commonly appears on this item includes:
- FSSAI licence number and food declarations on retail packs
- Net weight declaration in metric units
- Vegetarian mark and nutrition panel where required
- Tea Board registration references on trade documentation and tags
- trustea and other programme marks where the packer participates
Languages
English with Bengali and Hindi is the common domestic combination. Export retail packs add the language of the destination market.

Questions we are asked
Frequently asked
- Do you handle seasonal peaks and repeat runs for tea and agro?
- Yes. Repeat and seasonal work is the normal pattern of the plant. Give Fotoset the forecast for the season and the schedule is planned against it rather than treated as a series of unrelated orders.
- Can you match a run printed for us in an earlier season?
- Yes. Send a physical sample of the earlier run with the order. Artwork, proofs and press records are retained, and the reprint is checked against the sample before the run is released, not after.
- Can the goods be delivered to our packing supplier rather than to us?
- Yes. Overseas brands frequently specify Fotoset directly and have the printed matter delivered to the nominated Indian manufacturer for packing. Delivery address, carton marking and required count per carton are set on the purchase order.
